Revelation- Chapter1

Standard

Revelations contains message given by Jesus Christ, which God gave to Jesus to share with his servants about the events, what  must soon take place.

Following was made known by sending his angel to his servant John. Its written in revelation that blessed is the man who reads aloud the words of this prophecy and also to those who hear it and believe the said words by faith.

Revelation reveals to tell everyone that time is near and be prepared for it.

Here john is sending greetings to seven churches in the province of Asia.

“Grace and peace to you from him, who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his throne, and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth

If we observe the above verse, we could see how John shares his message

  • First he is sharing the Grace and peace to everyone from Jesus Christ

Here Jesus is referred as

  • Who is and who was and who is to come- i.e referring him as Alpha and Omega or present from the beginning of creation and still present and who is everlasting
  • Firstborn from the dead
  • The ruler of the kings of the earth
  • Faithful

The other verse goes like this

To him who love us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father-to him be glory and power fore ever and ever! Amen

The above verse interprets about

  • Jesus as a person, who always loves us and has given freedom from our sins by his blood
  • He has made us to be a kingdom and priest to serve God ,our Father
  • We must always give all glory and power to our Father forever and ever

“Look, he is coming with the clouds” and “every eye will see him, even those who pierced him;” and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him” so shall it be! Amen.

The above verse interpretation goes like this

During that time Jesus will be coming with clouds and all those who have eyes will see him . Further, those who have pierced Jesus will also see him and all peoples on the earth will mourn because of him and so shall it be.

“I am the Alpha and the Omega” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty”

The above verse interpretation goes like this

We could see the Lord God declares as “

  • I Am
  • The Alpha and the Omega
  • The Almighty
  • Who is and who was and who is to come

I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering and kingdom and patient endurance that ours in Jesus, was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.

Interpretation goes like this

Here John refers the qualities and roles needed

  • As a Brother to everyone
  • As a Companion to everyone during the sufferings
  • Needed Patience and Endurance to build the kingdom of God
  • As a Messenger Spreading the testimony of Jesus and word of God

On the Lords Day I was in Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet, which said: “Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea

Here we could interpret the following verse as

  • Presence of Holy spirit
  • Spreading the message of God

Sharing to the Seven Churches:

  • Ephesus
  • Smyrna
  • Pergamum
  • Thyatira
  • Sardis
  • Philadelphia
  • Laodicea

I turned around to see the voice that was speaking to me. And when I turned I saw seven golden lamp stands, and among the lamp stands was someone like a son of man, dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest. The hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow and his eyes were like blazing fire. His feet were like bronze glowing in furnace and his voice was like sound of rushing waters. In his right hand he held seven stars and   coming out of his mouth was sharp, double- edged sword. His face was like sun shining in all its brilliance

Saw

  • Son of Man
  • Golden lamp stands
  • In his right hand he held seven stars

  • A golden sash around his chest
  • The hair on his head – white like wool, as white as snow
  • Eyes were like blazing fire

When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said:”Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One;I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades

“Write, therefore, what you have seen, what is now and what will take place later. The mystery of seven stars that you saw in my right hand and of seven golden lamp stands is this: The seven stars are the angels of seven churches and the seven lamp stands are the seven churches.

Interpretation goes like this
